Mark E. Steiner, MD
Orthopedic Surgeon Harvard Health Service and Athletic Department
Section Chief Sports Orthopedics New England Baptist Hospital
Longwood Orthopedic Associates
Tufts and Harvard Medical Schools
Boston MA
Mark Steiner has been a team physician for the Harvard Athletic Department for over 30 years. He has also been the Fellowship Director of the New England Baptist Sports Fellowship since its accreditation in 1990 and has served as the Sports Section Chief since 2004. He completed an orthopedic sports fellowship under the direction of William A. Grana MD (President of AOSSM 2005-2006). He currently is on the Editorial Board of AJSM and an Associate Editor for OJSM.
His medical interests and research have been primarily in the field of athletic medicine. Examples of a nonorthopedic research include the requirements placed on team physicians, and the incidence of football injuries secondary to full contact practice. In conjunction with the Sports Fellows and staff at the New England Baptist he has authored multiple articles, reviews, chapters and made presentations on orthopedic sports injuries and their treatment. He continues to pursue innovative technologies to enhance an injured athlete’s return to competition.
