Dr. Lisa Lovse is a sports medicine trained orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Saint Cloud, Minnesota with the University of Minnesota Physicians group. Dr. Lovse began her education by completing a Bachelors of Engineering in Honors Mechanical Engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering at McGill University and was named to the Dean’s Honor List. She went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alberta where she worked on developing external sensors that could be used to determine limb position to help with muscle activation for patients with spinal cord injury and other neurologic injuries. After attending medical school at the University of Alberta she went on to complete orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Lovse completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Detroit Medical Centre and Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She completed a second sports medicine fellowship under Dr. Alan Getgood at Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic and the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Lovse’s clinical interests include complex reconstructive and joint preservation surgery in the knee and shoulder. Her time at Fowler Kennedy taught her the power of the osteotomy and she continues to champion its role in joint preservation. She also serves as team physician for Saint Cloud State University athletics including Division 1 hockey as well as for the Saint Cloud Rox Baseball team. Her research interests include biomechanical studies focused on demonstrating the benefits of joint preservation techniques.

Outside of orthopaedics she enjoys hiking and skiing in the mountains, running, and playing hockey.
