Etienne Cavaignac, MD, PhD
Professor
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
Toulouse University Hospital

Toulouse, France

Dr. Cavaignac is a knee surgeon in Toulouse (France) whose clinical practice consists mainly of ACL reconstruction and knee arthroplasty procedures. He was awarded a travelling fellowship by the SFA (Francophone Society of Arthroscopy) in 2017 and is currently the Treasurer of the ESSKA.

He is also a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at the Toulouse University Hospital. His research focuses on combined ACL/ALL reconstruction, use of ultrasound imaging in clinical practice to evaluate the ALL, and on treating arthrogenic muscle inhibition in ACL-deficient knees. He was awarded a PhD in Anthropology in 2017 based on his research into ethnic, sexual and age-related dimorphisms in the shape of the femur.

He is currently a reviewer for several orthopedic journals and serves on the editorial board of AJSM, OJSM, VJSM, KSSTA and OTSR. He is a native French speaker, and also speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.
