Dr. Freddie H. Fu is the David Silver Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Distinguished Service Professor, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Fu specializes in Sports Medicine and serves as the Head Team Physician for the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department.
Dr. Fu graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1974 and received his BMS in 1975 from Dartmouth Medical School. He earned his medical degree in 1977 from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his general surgery internship at Brown University. He returned to Pitt to complete his orthopaedic residency training. Dr. Fu was an AO International Fellow at the Hannover Trauma Center in Germany and an arthroscopic surgery fellow in East Lansing, Michigan.
Dr. Fu’s major research interest lies in anatomic ACL reconstruction, clinical outcomes, and bioengineering of sports-related problems. Dr. Fu is an author of over 675 peer-reviewed articles and has made over 1200 national and international presentations, co-authored 173 books chapters, and edited 32 major orthopaedic textbooks.
Dr. Fu oversees one of the top and most ethnically and gender-diversified orthopaedic residency training programs in the country. For this, he received the 2011 AAOS Diversity Award. He has been honored with over 300 professional awards including the 2014 AAOS Kappa Delta Elizabeth Winston Lanier Award. In July 2016, he was inducted to the AOSSM Hall of Fame.

Dr Said is currently a Professor in Assiut University, Egypt, who was awarded the State Encouragement Prize for Medical Sciences in 2012.
His medical training and most of the post graduate training was in Assiut University Hospital. He trained in the UK in 2005, as a Senior Arthroscopy fellow in the Birmingham Royal Orthopedic Hospital, where he fulfilled his Shoulder Arthroscopy Fellowship.
He later attended a fellowship on Hip Arthroscopy in Germany in 2010. Since then, he has been promoting the field in Egypt and Middle east with talks, courses and has chaired the first Cadaveric Hip Arthroscopy course in the ME, in Assiut 2016.
He has taught on numerous international meetings and courses in the field of Hip & Shoulder Arthroscopy and chaired the Assiut Cadaveric Shoulder Arthroscopy courses 2016-2018.
His memberships in international organizations and societies have increased his relations and friendships and as an active member of SICOT, has become a member of the Executive Committee since 2016.
In 2015, he became the Editor in Chief of the SICOT-J Journal and has been on the Editorial board of AJSM and International Orthopaedics Journals since 2008.
As a part of his activity in AOTrauma Middle East, he was member of the educational committee, and was a member of the Resident Task force for 4 years.
He chaired the Master Shoulder and Elbow course in Dubai 2015, in Cairo 2017 and will chair the Master Shoulder and Elbow course in Davos 2019.
